Bad habits can ruin one’s life. Some bad habits take time to give results, while some others can have catastrophic results very quickly. Drugs are one of those habits that can create many problems. The problems of drugs not only limit to the physical abuse of an individual who consumes it but also affects adversely the family and the relationships individual carries.
Dr. Govind Sharma (Retd IAS) brings in a story that talks about the challenges that come in a drug addict’s life. It is an emotional story with the addict struggling to find the balance in life. The author has touched a very important problem of drug addiction in a very subtle way in this book “Of Aakash and Aarti”. Dr. Goving Sharma has already written three books. His books are written with a strong purpose. “Of Aakash and Aarti” also comes with a strong purpose to tell the society about saying “No to Drugs”
The book is well written and I would urge teenagers to read it. But not restricted to age this book is a good read. We all know that the ability to say “No” can do wonders. The author has explicitly expressed the reasons to say no to drugs. Woven with a fictional story, the message still stands out clearly in this book. Most of us suffer taking the right decisions, but when it comes to drugs a single wrong decision can create a chain of wrong decisions. This book broadcasts a strong message to society.
The book has a very warming narrative. The book is well-paced and makes for a good read. I personally liked the storyline as well. The readability is easy and the edits of the book are good. The cover of the book is also pleasant. The cover is intuitive and speaks for itself. The flow of the chapters is good. Overall it makes for a good read. This book can definitely take some space on the shelf.
