The Auto Expo 2014 is here.! An event that all auto enthusiasts wait for. To see what all the car makers have been working on, to see which new cars will hit the Indian market, to see new technologies being developed. This time, like every year, the Auto Expo has so far raised many eyebrows and given many surprises to us and the stall at Tata Motors has excited me the most of all.
During my childhood, my father drove a Tata Sierra Turbo. It was such a delight when people stopped by to look at the car. In my view, it was the first perfect compact SUV in India but way ahead of it’s time. Since the successful launch of the Indica, Tata Motors had major focus on hatch back and sedan markets, launching Indica Vista and Manza at the latest. Safari and Sumo kept getting updates and the Aria was bought in. But since the launch of the Duster by Renault, the market for compact SUVs has just bloomed like never before. Every brand has been working to produce one. Everyone was waiting for what Tata Motors had under their sleeves. Also with the design philosophy of Manza and Vista feeling the age factor, they needed a fresh set of designs for the next gen, as for Tata’s new tag line-Horizonext.
First off, hatchback Bolt and compact sedan Zest were unveiled. Bolt will take on the hatches while Zest takes the fight with Suzuki Dzire and Honda Amaze.
Both these cars will have the new Revotron motor that Tata has developed. The interior of both Zest and Bolt has been freshly designed to match the youth life style.

Looking at the other concepts, Tata surprised everyone with the Nexon compact SUV and Connectnext concept. The nexon is a ready concept which should soon be seen in the market as a production version while the Connectnext is used to display the next-gen interface technology of Tata.
Also on display are two tuned up 4x4s. A Tata Safari Storme Ladakh and Tata Sumo Extreme. Both these SUVs are tweaked to be full time off roader with rugged wheels and some off road utilities. The Sumo Extreme looks very interesting.!

In all, Tata Motors had 18 vehicles lined up including the Nano A/t transmission and some commercial vehicles. The future for these new cars seems bright looking at the response the have recieved.!
